The first step you should take to secure a loan with bad credit is to look into federal student loans.  These loans do not require any credit check at all, but these usually are strictly need based loans.  So if you try for a Parent or a Plus loan and are denied because of bad credit history, no need to worry!  These federal, or Stafford loans, are your ticket to going to the college of your dreams.  Also, with federal loans, you tend to get low interest based loans and often get about six months after you graduate to start paying the loans back.  So not only are they good loans to go for regardless of credit, but for a student trying to get the aid needed for college with bad credit they are even better since there is no credit check.
