What are the benefits of consolidating my private student loans?  Well first of all, you will be lowering your monthly payments.  This cut can sometimes be up to 50%!  It all depends on which lender you go to and what they will do for you.  Now this does mean that your loan will be extended for a longer period of time.  It also means that you will be paying more interest over the longer period.  So you will be saving money every month, which can be extremely helpful, or you will be paying more money over time.  It really depends on which way you look at consolidating and what suits you best.  Now you also want to find a good interest rate on the loans.  You can shop around and see which lender will give you the best deal.  You can try negotiating with the lenders and see which will help you the most.  Consolidating is a great option for many people, so do your research and see if it suits you.
